While it’s true one never knows what’s going on inside of others, from my perspective, Ashley and Lee were two of the calmest, most composed and “mellow” people I’ve photographed in a long time. Ashley expressed her complete “trust” in me (that’s always helpful and makes my day go very nicely). I could have shot for another hour with these two, but here are some quick highlights from their wedding in Hamilton last weekend!

Sarah & Darrin {Pillar & Post Wedding}05.04.13
We’re lovin the real and candid feel of Sarah and Darrin’s weddings recently in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Sometimes not having the time to set things up can give quite a decent result since it forces me to cover the event almost entirely “journalistically”. My approach has always been a mixture of candid and very cool (we hope) posed, but I’m good with stepping out of the box every so often! Sarah and Darrin had no idea of the angst and conflict I was dealing with!!! (okay maybe not)… but they just chilled and rolled like 2 people in love!

Kirsten & Ben {Queen’s Landing Wedding Photography}04.18.13
Kirsten and Ben’s wedding was one of the best examples of a really elegant, modern affair with stellar decor and visual appeal. With a great variety of visually interesting people, events and decor, mixed with a good dose of laughter, this was a day to remember for everyone who was at Queen’s Landing that day! In spite of cold temperatures outside, Kirsten was gracious, kind and unaffected by the “less-than-Spring-like” weather!

Pam & Todd {Niagara-on-the-Lake Wedding Photography}03.30.13
Pam and Todd made an excellent decision to have their awesome celebration here in Niagara even though their families are from Eastern Ontario and Ohio – it was the perfect venue to make things equally inconvenient for everyone! It really turned out to be a fun, memorable day and with immigration, travel, career juggling and family, these two have an exciting future ahead! You have our absolute best wishes Pam & Todd!

Vintage Flair – no instagram please {wedding photography}03.19.13
Many of you are curious about what’s up here at the studio and we’d love to touch base with all of you and bring you up to speed. Life is busy with 3 pre-school children and weddings happening throughout the traditionally “slow” or “cold, off-season”. This Winter has been busier than usual and we’re thankful for it! We’re on the verge of a brand-new promotional campaign and we’re re-visiting our first love – VINTAGE! Since the early 2000′s we’ve been treating our images with a heavy vintage flavour and it’s gone over extremely well. It’s not for everyone, but it sticks out like a sore thumb (in a good way) beside all of our competitors who typically offer good photography…..with no vintage flair (and no real effects of any kind actually). Over the past 5 years, we’ve seen a number of young photographers jump on the “vintage” train and now it’s not as unique, but still different enough. I’ve included a couple of pics from the last couple years of weddings that represent an extreme colour vintage look (except the last one which didn’t really need any effects). Our typical approach is to treat some of the wedding photos with some subtle vintage effects rather than trying to force the issue by making the couple dress in 1920′s outfits and using ultra-extreme instagram effects – too trendy. We’d love to hear your feedback on the “vintage” thing.

Darby & Simon {Inn-on-the-twenty Wedding Photography}02.27.13
Sometimes a wedding is just a fun little party that I go to and at the end of the day after I have some shots that I feel good about, I’m happy to have been there. Other times it’s a great time with low stress and great people that I was really glad to have met. Darby and Simon’s wedding was just like this. From a hilarious bridesmaid to some unforgettable props (can’t see them in this blog – it’s a surprise!) this was a wedding I wish I could duplicate over again! Oh, and did I mention the whole thing happened about 75 metres from my house at Inn-on-the-twenty? Debbie and I wish you two the absolute best in your future and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of your wedding celebration!

Jodi & Andy {Toronto Wedding Photography}02.22.13
We had the honour this past weekend of being allowed to roam the facilities of Hart House at the University of Toronto for Andy and Jodi’s wedding. You could almost hear the voices of history echoing through the halls and rooms. It felt very much like being in the heart of an Ivy League campus. Everywhere I looked was another very cool photo location! I was also thrilled to have EMILY, one of our associate photographers, along to help cover every minute of this fast paced day. Jodi and Andy added a wealth of variables in this celebration that not only added to the creativity of their photos, but kept Emily and I on the ball through the whole day – like Scrabble details in every corner and a sensory overload of excellent photo locations! Jody & Andy, it was a privilege to be a part of your very unique day!

Natalie & Tyler {Niagara Engagement Photographer}02.15.13
Having photographed Natalie’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, I knew both these sisters were enthusiastic photography connoisseurs and I’d love them as clients! Natalie and Tyler didn’t disappoint as they trudged through the snowy wilderness and had a blast while I stood back and “recorded the love!”

Great photos Kirsten! Looks like you guys had a wonderful day! Wish we could have made it. Best wishes and congrats on your wedding!!!!
